Top Puppy Names

More than 1.26 million puppies were born in 2012, but what were the year’s top pet names? We took a look and found a few interesting trends that have continued on from last year and a couple of new trends as well!

Pop Culture has always played a big role in pet names and this year is no exception when it comes to the girls. The number one name for female pets is the same as it’s been since 2006, Bella. Think it’s a coincidence that the first Twilight book was released in October 2005? We don’t think so either.

Names like Max, Charlie, Jack, Toby, Lucy, Sophie, Sadie, Chloe, Maggie are single-sex human names, which matches up well with the trend of pets becoming more and more a part of the family.

Max tops the list for males, making it seven straight years. Rocky and Bear are stalwarts in the top 10 for male dogs, but they better watch out because there are some up and comers just outside the top ten names.  Some of the up and coming names are Zeus, Thor, Milo, Blue, Gunner and Jax.

As far as the females go a lot of the names are the same, but Lola is on the rise and Coco made the top ten for the first time as well. A few other names to watch are Rosie, Luna, and Nala. These names might make their way into the top 10 next year.

No matter your puppy's name they deserve to be pampered, so that is why earthbath crafted our Ultra-Mild Puppy Set just for your frisky young pup. If you are a new puppy owner you may also be interested in reading our blog with tips for potty training your new addition.
